Gilchrest swan song way off key
To the Washington Post:
“We’re in this bad place as a country because of the evangelicals, the neocons, the nasty, bitter and mean . . . very clever ideological groups that use money, technology, fear and bigotry to lead people around,” he says. “Voting according to your knowledge and experience — that’s out the window. Competence and prudence? Forget it.”
Keep on singing, Wayne.
Blame it on the Christians: those greedy Christians like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, who failed to curb the excesses at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and enriched themselves and countless others during your 17 years representing your conservative district.
Blame it on the horrible neocons who want their representatives to show restraint in their spending, and who want legislation that does its job without adding billions of additional dollars of our money to pay for your pet projects that put money in your personal pockets.
Blame it the nasty, bitter and mean ideological groups…those of us who actually believe in the Constitution…and expect you to believe in it too…and vote accordingly.
But whatever you do, don’t put the blame on you.
Just bash all of the rest of us who don’t sit on the fence like you do, who use our money and technology to remind voters like us why we vote.
And guess what? We vote to have representatives who represent US.
And we voted you out of office because you don’t.
It was during YOUR watch that this economic crisis occurred. YOU WERE THERE IN WASHINGTON FOR ALL OF IT.
And in your ultimate act of “bipartisan leadership,”you have the unmitigated gall to call us nasty and mean. Then you have the hubris to preach to us about voting according to knowledge and experience.
We came to our own conclusions. We used our own knowledge and experience to evaluate you.
And you’ve been fired.
Just face it, Wayne: if you had been a competent “representative,” you would still have a job.
And had you been prudent (i.e., wise and discerning or “careful in providing for the future”), and represented the constituents who voted for you, you might be returning to Washington instead of returning home to retirement.
You yourself said it best: “Maybe living in luxury diminishes the intellect.” Perhaps this is what happened to you.
Your defeat should serve as a warning to all Congressmen who fail to listen to their constituents. We are sick of electing representatives like you who serve only yourselves.
Stop blaming us for the demise of our country instead of looking in your mirror… and at your colleagues… and in your bank account to find the true source of America’s woes.
But knowing you, you’ve gotta blame it on something. And it won’t be yourself.
Perhaps if you blame it on the rain, you’ll have a little more success.

I’m a little tired of hearing these politicians brag about bipartisanship. The only time that I want a Conservative to cross the aisle is to support a conservative cause. Our problem is Liberalism. It’s just that most DEMS are liberal, and that’s the main cause of our Economical Mess. Why, to any logical voter, should the Economic Problems be a plus to O’Bama? I think that the McCain Campaign has to place the blame squarely on the shoulders of the DEMS. Can anyone remember Reno? Redlining? Extremely Risky Mortgages? Barney Frank? Chris Dodd? FM&FM Contributions? And, how about ACORN & O’bama? Even as a Community Organizer, he was hurting the Economy. The ECONOMY ISSUE should favor the Conservatives. The McCain Campaign should stress these facts.

This is a statement, which I hope we will be sending to all of our current MD representatives in Congress soon. Well said!
